At the Midwest Psychological Services, we routinely see children, adolescents, and adults.   Our team has extensive training and experience  with autism, anxiety, depression, parent-child relationship struggles, life transitions, cognitive/emotional/behavioral regulation difficulties, giftedness, learning struggles, adoption issues,  caregiver fatigue, developmental trauma,  communication struggles, parenting, high conflict separated parents, divorce,  remarriage, and parent-adult child estrangement.

We know that what works for one individual or family may not be suitable for another.  We are responsive to your  values, beliefs, cultural background, and priorities.  We build upon your strengths, preferences, abilities, and goals to create an individualized, actionable plan.
 

Dr. Dera Zand, owner and founder of the Midwest Psychological Services,  also works regularly with attorneys, courts, and legal professionals. She applies her  knowledge of developmental and clinical psychology to legal contexts involving minors and their parents.  Dr. Zand  assists individuals within the legal system  with understanding complex psychological issues that affect children and their parents, which may be beyond the knowledge of an average person. Dr. Zand interacts with clients in an empathic and

curious manner.  She  maintains clear and consistent boundaries across clients and settings, and facilitates emotional regulation in high conflict situations through the use of both verbal and nonverbal attunement, active listening,  verbal reflection, and working towards  mutually acceptable solutions.
